Over 5,700 attend UPSC exam

A low attendance percentage marked the Union Public Service Commission’s preliminary examination for civil services on Sunday.

The examination was conducted amid tight security at 17 centres. Papers were taken out from the strong room under the supervision of Joint Collector M. Praveen Kumar and despatched to the centres.

UPSC observers C.U.S. Patnaik and M. Jagadeeswar and District Collector V. Seshadri visited the centres.

Of the 7,754 candidates that were to take the examination, 2,892 (37.25 per cent) attended in the morning and 2,867 (36.97 per cent) in the afternoon, according to DRO M. Venkateswara Rao.
