One worker died and two others were injured in an accident at the Navy Ship Building Centre in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
According to reports, the mishap occurred when a hydro pressure test was being done at the centre, reportedly on a submarine. A small explosion occurred resulting in the death of one worker Rajan and injuries to two others. There was, however, no confirmation from the Navy.
“There was no explosion or fire. A huge iron sheet fell on the workers when they were working at the centre resulting in the death of one worker and injuries to two others,” Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy said.
Navy Ship Building Centre is under Director-General Naval Projects (Visakhapatnam) and this is where the Indian nuclear-powered submarine is being built.
