Field level medical staff must discharge their duties in a responsible manner and strong action would be taken if negligence was noticed, Project Officer A. K. Srikanth Prabhakar said at a review meeting on medical care in Visakha Agency at Paderu on Wednesday.
He wanted the Medical Officers and staff to take steps to prevent any epidemic. The Medical Officers must be available to the people and those commuting from the plain area would lose their house rent allowance.
He told the Medical Officers and field staff to go on field visits without fail and conduct medical camps and collect blood smears.
The Medical Officers should visit problem areas after completing OP at the PHCs and inform the higher officials the details of the visits through SMS.
All steps must be taken to prevent infant and maternal deaths and every delivery must be an institutional delivery, the PO said.
Pregnant women must be created awareness about institutional deliveries during the field visits, both parents and children immunised regularly, and 108 service must be used to transport a pregnant woman from her home to hospital and back, Mr. Prabhakar said. Nodal Officer of a mandal would monitor the medical care in his or her mandal.
He also announced that a scanner would be provided for a group of three to four PHCs.
The Medical Officers informed the PO that there was sufficient stock of anti-malaria medicines in all PHCs. Funds for first phase of anti-malaria spraying were released and the second phase should commence on July 5.
