Officials to jointly inspect Kranthinagar gedda

May 21, 2014 12:02 am | Updated 12:02 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

GVMC and Naval engineers will make a joint inspection on Friday to arrive at a solution to prevent overflowing of drain water from Kranthinagar gedda, which is resulting in partial submersion at Nausenabaugh. At a coordination meeting with officials from the Navy on Tuesday, GVMC Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana said the GVMC engineers had inspected the drain and said that diversion of the gedda through an alternative route would involve an expenditure of Rs.3 crore. Alternatively, taking up 300- metre construction work at one of the points at an estimated cost of Rs.40 lakh could provide a temporary solution. Naval officers Pradeep Rana, Salim Anwar, PK Mohan, and Sadanand Mahapatra said the clogging of the open drain was resulting in inundation of a part of the colony and poor sanitation.
