Utkal Samskrutika Samaj, a premier socio-cultural organisation in the city for Odias, organised a dance show to mark the Durgashtami celebrations.

Various programmes are being organised by the samaj on its premises at Dasapala Hills near All India Radio from Wednesday and they will continue till Saturday.

A separate pandal was erected with colourful decoration where the earthen idol of goddess Durga and other deities are being worshipped in the traditional way.

The immersion will be done on the last day of the celebrations.

Samaj members enthralled the gathering with Odissi, Sambalpuri folk, record dance and a skit on Ashtami Day.

This was followed by distribution of prasadam.
