Megha Vyakaranam (15), NRI studying in Std. XI in Dallas, USA, has arranged donation of around 5,000 books and 10 steel almirahs at the Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School at Palavalasa on Friday.
Ms. Megha, who is also co-founder and director of a non-profit organisation Hustle 2 Heal, is grand daughter of the late Raja Rao, mathematics teacher.
During Megha’s summer trip to India, she visited schools in Anandapuram mandal of the district, where her aunt Kanaka Durga Dhulipala works in the Mandal Office.
On her suggestion, Megha has donated books.
Libraries will be set up in rural schools to improve student access to educational materials.
Megha collected funds and books by conducting door-to-door campaigns and opening book donation boxes. She also contributed the prize money, which she won at an international science competition for this book project.
V Gayatri, grand mother of Ms. Megha, was felicitated by the HMs of 10 UP schools.
