NREGS incentives for 50 gram panchayats

The State government will provide incentives to the first 50 gram panchayats in a district for completing different works under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during this year.

Collector N. Yuvaraj said on Thursday that the State government issued a GO to this effect to encourage the Gram Panchayats to take up as many works as possible under the NREGS.

The incentives for each work for each of the first 50 Panchayats are: Rs. 5 lakh for becoming free of open defecation and reaching 100 per cent target in individual toilets; Rs. 4 lakh for construction of farm ponds in all fields; Rs. 2 lakh for ensuring every household has a percolation pit; Rs. 2 lakh for preparing 50 vermi compost pits under NADEP; Rs. 2 lakh for protecting all the plants that are planted under avenue plantation for a length of 3 km; and Rs. 2 lakh for completing 100 per cent plantation on the premises of government offices.
