For the first time GVMC has issued birth certificate within 24 hours of a baby being born. Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana handed over the birth certificates to the fathers and close relations of 15 babies born between Tuesday midnight and 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
For the first time in the country birth certificate was issued within 24 hours, according to a GVMC press release. Mr. Satyanarayana said this facility was introduced at the suggestion of Collector V. Sheshadri .
“ANMs and Sanitary Inspectors will collect details of deliveries in the hospitals in their respective areas every day and the birth certificates will be prepared next day and handed over to the parents along with the hospital discharge certificate”, Mr. Satyanarayana explained. All the hospitals have been informed of this procedure initiated by GVMC.
Additional Commissioners S. Krishnamurthy and K. Ramesh, and Chief Medical Officer P.V. Ramana Murthy were present.
Mr. Satyanarayana made surprise visits to slums at Relliveedhi in the 22 ward and Jaisantoshimata colony in the 19 ward and wanted the staff and officials to ensure proper sanitation, drinking water and other facilities. Women SHGs must be involved in keeping the slums clean, he said. Earlier he inspected the call centre and interacted directly with some callers. He was satisfied that 1,300 out of the 1,600 complaints received so far had been solved. In the Dial Your Commissioner programme, Mr. Satyanarayana received 22 complaints.
