Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao on Sunday urged media to show government educational institutions in proper light.
Speaking at a function to distribute notebooks to children of journalists, arranged by Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists' Federation in the city, he said he had studied in a government school where the quality of teaching was good.

He appreciated the good work of the federation and also Vizag Journalists' Forum in the city.
Visakhapatnam West MLA Malla Vijaya Prasad said he had also studied in Government school and college in Pendurthi.
Though it was very prestigious to get a seat in Pendurthi Junior College over two decades ago, the college had now no takers, he lamented, and appealed to the media to work towards encouraging government educational institutions which provided free and quality education. Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu said the media, government organisations and people's representatives all worked for the welfare of society.

He underscored the role of media in reaching the public.
Welfare Group executive director Malla Aruna Kumari, Super Bazaar chairman Raju, VJF president G. Sreenu Babu, Secretary Durga Rao, Kantarao and others spoke. Federation city president P. Narayan presided over the function.
Notebooks were distributed among children and the newly elected office-bearers of VJF were also felicitated on the occasion.
