Note ban meant to root out corruption, says MP

Demonetisation is the first step towards rooting out corruption, MP and BJP State president K. Haribabu has said.

Addressing the “Anti-Black Money Day” meeting organised at his party office on Wednesday, he said following demonetisation new currency was flown in to reduce the wait for notes.

Urging people to turn to online transactions, he said online payments would reduce the role of black money. He said sponsoring terrorism and circulation of counterfeit currency came down after the bold decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Revenue from income tax increased.

Deputy Director of Central Excise Harihara Prasad spoke.

Party City unit president M. Nagendra presided. Party senior leader P.V. Chalapati Rao, MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, MLC P.V.N. Madhav, former city president P.V. Narayana Rao and J. Pridhviraj were among those who participated.
