A newly-married man reportedly committed suicide at his house at Gajuwaka on Friday.
According to the police, Muthu Saravanan, 23, fell in love with Saravanan Anita, 26, of Gajuwaka and married her at a local temple in January this year. Saravanan was employed as a junior engineer at a private company. His parents were unaware of his wedding.
On Friday afternoon, Anita prepared to leave for Salem in Tamil Nadu to attend her sister's wedding. Saravanan said that he would drop her at the Railway Station.
The couple came out of the house with the luggage. As they prepared to lock the house, Saravanan went into the house saying that he forgot something.
After waiting for a few minutes, Anita became anxious and went inside to find her husband hanging from the ceiling fan hook. Gajuwaka Police registered a case on a complaint filed by Anita.
Cell shops raided
The Gajuwaka police conducted raids on four cell phone shops on the Old Gajuwaka Main Road on Friday evening and arrested four persons on the charge of downloading blue films.
On a tip-off, CI Ranga Raju and his team conducted the raids and arrested N. Lakshmaiah, Ashok Kumar, Jogi Eswara Rao and M. Ramakrishna.
Duped
A real estate dealer reportedly cheated customers by collecting the initial amount for booking a flat and fleeing the city along with his family members.
B. Ravi Kumar and his wife Varalakshmi floated a real estate company and promised prospective buyers of flats at Durga Nagar Layout at Lankelapalem. They collected Rs.1 lakh as initial deposit from buyers and promised to hand over the flats.
A few days ago, the couple left the city along with their children, according to a complaint filed by one of their victims Joga Venkata Narasimham.
The couple are believed to have collected money from around 25 persons.

Mobile shop burgled
Mobile phones worth Rs.85,000 were stolen from a shop at Ramnagar.
K. Rajesh Kumar of Pandurangapuram has his shop at Ramnagar.
On Thursday night he locked his shop as usual and went home. On Friday morning, he found the shop burgled and 15 mobiles missing.
In a separate house-breaking incident, household articles worth Rs.15,000 were stolen from the house of G. Bulli Babu at Jenda Chettu Veedhi.
Bulli Babu and his family left for Hyderabad on April 2. They found the articles missing on returning home on Friday.
The miscreants had gained entry through ventilator.
Two Town police are investigating the cases.
