Minister for Tribal Welfare P.Balaraju and Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao participated separately in launching the new menu at the local ST Girls Hostel and the Social Welfare Boys Hostel at MVP Colony here on Sunday.

Participating in the unveiling of new menu for girls at the ST Hostel, Balaraju welcomed the new nutritious menu implemented throughout the State by the Government.

‘Benefit for 9 lakh’

He said that the government’s decision benefited around 9 lakh ST students. Local MLA Velagapudi Rama Krishna also spoke welcoming the Government decision.

The new menu includes supply of a fruit and an egg for each child along with the food. Besides tea and snacks supply in the afternoon form part of the new menu implemented from Sunday. Girijan Welfare Deputy Director Mallikarjuna Reddy, RDO Rangaiah and Tahsildars Murali and Varma participated.

The Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao hailed the new menu introduced for the SC students living in welfare hostels.

Advice to cooks

He said that this was one of the revolutionary decisions taken by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. Participating in a community lunch with the children he said that the cooks working in the welfare hostels should be sent to the Food Craft Institute for training in preparation of nutritious and tasty food. Social Welfare Deputy Director Sreenivasan participated.
