A trailer suction hopper dredger - Dredge 19 – will be inducted into the fleet of the city-based public sector Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).

The ceremony for the formal induction will be conducted at Ennore in Tamil Nadu on Saturday in the presence of Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan.

Dredge-19 is built by the IHC Merwede at the Netherlands. It was delivered to the DCI last month ahead of schedule. It is the first in the series of 3 state-of-the-art dredgers being built by the company for the DCI. The remaining two dredgers will be delivered next year, DCI sources said.
