A new office building of the Area Accounts Office (Army) was inaugurated by Veena Prasad, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), here on Wednesday.
The inaugural function was attended by senior officers from the Indian Navy, Ship Building Center, Indian Coast Guard, Defence Accounts Department, Military Engineer Services and other defence establishments.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Prasad said Defence Accounts Department (DAD) was one of the oldest departments under the Government of India. She further said her department pioneered many systemic changes in the functions and processes in order to keep pace with the technological developments and the growing demands of the Services.
The CGDA also reiterated her department's commitment to rendering efficient, correct and prompt accounting, payment, internal audit and financial advisory services to the Services, with customers and clients in focus.
Ms. Prasad laid emphasis on self-sufficiency of physical infrastructure in terms of office buildings, residences, transit facilities, etc., for all its offices, officers and staff, given the fact that the department is spread all over the country, and some of the offices were located in the remotest parts of the country. The provision of new office building for the Area Accounts Office (Army) at Visakhapatnam was part of this vision, she said.
She congratulated Brig Kumanan, chief engineer, and Rakesh Verma, Garrison engineer (ND) Visakhapatnam and S.R. Constructions, Visakhapatnam for completing the building ahead of schedule.
Ms. Veena Prasad, also interacted and held discussion with Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
