‘Net’ glitch at GVMC

February 27, 2014 02:33 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 11:09 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Civic tax payment through net banking will not be possible until the GVMC gets a new server. Even otherwise, payments have turned out to be problematic with server-related problems at places like Gajuwaka.

During crucial March, the last month of the financial year, when payments pick up following a large number of transactions, the server problem is hitting online payment also.

As a back-up arrangement, an extra counter with two systems is arranged at Gajuwaka, where the problem is encountered. Also, to help staff manage better, training will be provided to them on Sunday. The new server has a complex configuration and generally takes two to three months for delivery. The company is ready to give the basic server, but paying water tax will be a problem, officials said.

The IT wing has insisted on early delivery, and in the next two to three weeks it is expected.

However, for payment using credit and debit cards, the three digit card verification value or card security number is required, officials clarified.
