Navy man commits suicide

A serviceman of the Indian Navy committed suicide at INS Kalinga under Bheemunipatnam Police Station limits on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Virender Singh Rathod (50), a native of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He was living with his family in Visakhapatnam.

According to Inspector T. Appalanaidu, he was in the rank of Naik Subedar and posted in the Naval Armament Depot at INS Kalinga. Family disputes and personal problems were the reasons cited in the suicide note found in his shirt pocket, he said. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Watchman ends life

Shaik Madina Valli (45), a watchman at VUDA building, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his room on Monday night. A native of Madugula, he moved to Visakhapatnam four years ago and had been working as watchman since then.

According to the police, he was in financial trouble and his wife had deserted him.
