After completing 2,694.5 km of “Vastunna.. Mee Kosam” padayatra, former Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu will enter Visakhapatnam district on Friday.
He will enter the district at Gannavarammetta in Natavaram mandal in the evening from East Godavari district and Politburo member Ch.Ayyanna Patrudu and Assembly constituency in-charges and other party leaders will accord him a big welcome when he enters the district.
His yatra will conclude on April 27 when he will unveil a pylon at Vadlapudi marking the conclusion of the yatra by traversing 2,807 km in 208 days.
He will later address a public meeting at AU Engineering College Grounds.
Work on the 100-feet tall pylon to come up in 1,200 square yard site began formally on Ugadi day,
TDP district rural president Dadi Ratnakar and Urban president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar told reporters here on the eve of padayatra’s entry into the district.
Record yatra
Mr. Ratnakar said on Sundays Mr.Naidu would not take up the yatra. He will reach Kotturu Junction in Pendurti constituency on April 23 and by then will have completed all but 4 km of the record yatra.
No political leader in the history took up such an extensive yatra, he said. Starting on October 2, he had so far covered 80 constituencies, 156 mandals, four corporations, 26 municipalities and 1,181 villages.
The TDP leader will participate in the Ambedkar Jayanti and Sriramanavami that fall during the period. Party would celebrate Mr. Naidu’s birthday on April 20 in Elamanchili constituency and at Anakapalle.
His yatra in the rural district ends when he reaches Kotturu Junction on April 23.
Mr. Ganesh Kumar said to mark the historic yatra by the 63-year-old leader the pylon was being constructed. The site at Vadlapudi has been acquired after going through legal details, he said answering a question.
The schedule from April 24 to 26 had to be finalised as only 4 km has to be covered to the pylon and once it was unveiled the padayatra would come to an end. Mr. Naidu might use the time to take up review meetings.
Big procession
To make up for the yatra not covering the city, a big procession to the public meeting venue with 10,000 vehicles was being planned following the route earlier decided in the urban area. However, the plan would be finalised after seeking permission from the Police Commissioner.
