Bhaskar Rao, father of P. Rishi Kumar, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 12th floor of a campus hostel building on December 6 last year, on Wednesday claimed that his son had not committed suicide, but was murdered.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he recounted the series of events and quoted from the post-mortem report in support of his claim.
Rishi, student of Pharmacy, at a private university in the city, had reportedly jumped from the terrace of the hostel building after he was allegedly caught in a drunken stage by the hostel authorities.
Refuting the allegations, Mr. Bhaskar Rao said, “I first received a call around 5 pm on that date from the hostel authorities that my son had come to the hostel in a drunk condition. Five minutes later I received a second call saying that he had jumped off the terrace and after another five minutes the third call informed me that he was dead. I reached here around 9 p.m. the same day and next day his body was handed over after autopsy.”
According to Bhaskar Rao, who is a doctor, the post-mortem report did not mention the presence of any quantity of alcohol in the stomach.
Meanwhile, the police said it was clear case of suicide.
“After his father had come to know that he had come drunk, he was very upset and rushed to the terrace and jumped from there,” said a police officer.
