President of AP State unit of BJP K Haribabu being welcomed to the party office in Visakhapatnam on Monday on his visit to the city first time after being appointed to the post.

The BJP winning as many seats as possible to the Lok Sabha from Seemandhra regions would bring pressure on the BJP government at the Centre to keep its promise to do justice to the region, newly-appointed BJP AP state unit president K Haribabu said. Addressing mediapersons for the first time after being appointed president of the State unit, he said the appointment was a responsibility to strengthen the party in the State. The first priority of the party was to ensure as many seats to give the BJP a majority in the Lok Sabha. The second option was to work out pre-election alliance with other parties to ensure the numbers.

The party did not have any representative in the Lok Sabha from the State, but it was the only party that fought for the rights of the Seemandhra region, he said. The party central leadership would be taking a decision on electoral alliance and it would be clear in a week, Mr Haribabu said.

City unit president P.V. Narayana Rao, State vice-president Bandaru Rangamohan, former MLC P.V. Chalapati Rao, former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao and party leaders were present.
