Andhra Pradesh can prosper only if it stays united, says JAC chairman

Concluding its six-day relay fast near GVMC in support of an integrated State, Visakha Muslim Joint Action Committee on Tuesday organised mass prayers for Samaikyandhra near GVMC. According to the organisers, around 1,000 people attended the mass prayers.

Addressing the gathering, JAC Chairman I H Farooqui said Andhra Pradesh could prosper only if it stayed united. The bifurcation move was caused by the selfishness of some political leaders, he said. F. R. Khan of the JAC said Muslims would participate in the Samaikya Garjana to be organised by Non-Political JAC at Ramakrishna Beach on Saturday.

NGOs protest

JAC convener Sk. A. Ali, president of All Mosques Federation S.R. Khan, Government Khazi Ahmedullah Khan, Aslam Bhai, former corporators Sk. Vali, Md. Rafi, Chota Rehaman, women representative Syeda Meharun, Khadar Baba, treasurer K.M Jeelani and members of the organising committee Shabbir, Babu Bhai, Md. Ali Khan, Sheik Khadar Baba participated in the programme. A ‘Vanta-Varpu’ programme was also organised.

At the Collector Office relay fasts by APNGOs continued for the 27 day. Employees of Girijan Corporation, Medical and Health, Survey, Employment Departments and NCC wing, Class IV staff and drivers’ association participated. NGOs’ Association district president K. Eswara Rao said according to the programme given by the State leadership a siege would be laid to Central Government offices on Thursday and Friday.

TDP protest

At the Visakhapatnam Municipal Employees Union’s protests at GVMC, Town Planning staff of Zone Five participated in the relay fast.

At the fast camp near Gandhi statue, the TDP organised a protest accusing UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi of dividing the State to share it with YSRC in Seemandhra and with TRS in Telangana and Rahul Gandhi lording over the country. TDP (Urban) president Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar and cadres from wards 24 and 25 participated.

Relay fasts continue

Relay fasts by political parties continued near GVMC. YSRC cadres from wards 67, 70 and 71 participated and party leaders G V Rajiv Raju and Vamsikrishna Srinivas visited the camp and expressed solidarity. At the Congress camp cadres of BC and SC cells of the party observed the fast.
