With an aim to enhance the mood of morning walkers on the Beach Road and also address the requirements of music lovers, a Carnatic concert by Pantulu Rama was organised by the Tarakeshwara Foundation on Sunday.

The foundation, which is operating the Rajiv Smriti Bhavan on the Beach Road in association with the GVMC in PPP mode, organised a one-hour classical concert from 6 a.m. on the stage facing the sea, where city-based maestro Pantulu Rama was accompanied by her husband M.S.N. Murthy on violin and P.S. Jayadev on the mridangam, according to a statement issued by managing trustee Sehdev Singh.

Buoyed by the response to the first performance that attracted over 90 persons, the foundation plans to hold more such concerts early in the morning on Sundays.

“A number of exponents of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music have offered to perform,” Mr. Singh said.

On request by the foundation, the GVMC has, in principle, agreed to allow the Sunday morning one-hour concert to be relayed live on the Beach Road speaker system being operated by the GVMC from its Aqua Complex building.
