A cosy nest with a mother bird guarding a clutch of newly-laid eggs, a set of traditional grinding stones, assorted baskets consisting of fresh flowers, dozens of Ganesha idols, a few Siva lingas and many more have been brought out by the little ones who made their way to the school premises to learn clay-moulding.
At 8 a.m. on Monday, the corridors of the Gayatri Vidya Parishad MLBT School were swarming with students who came to pick up the nuances of their favourite summer pastime. The annual summer camp, started 15 years ago, has not only been receiving tremendous response but also is open for students of other schools.
Art teachers Ch. Mohan Rao and Ch. Sunitha trained the students in clay-modelling classes. Principal of the school K. Madhuravani said more than 300 students had registered for the workshop. “The agenda is to engage students in an outdoor activity and share some creative space,” she added. The camp will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the school premises.
