Safety matters: A demonstration was made to create awareness among shipyard employees.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited fire service personnel on Thursday took part in a drill and mock rescue operation to create awareness about fire safety and fire-fighting techniques.

As part of fire safety week, which is being observed from April 14 to commemorate the sacrifice of 66 fire fighters during Mumbai explosions in 1994, HSL conducted a mock evacuation and fire-fighting drill in the yard. Fire service personnel led by Sunit Kumar Surat, deputy manager, took part in the drill.

Chairman and Managing Director Rear Admiral L.V. Sarat Babu in his address appreciated the service being rendered by the fire service personnel.

Precautions

He emphasised the need for every employee to be alert and to adopt all safety precautions to achieve zero accident rate. The CMD recalled the valiant sacrifice by the Mumbai fire brigade whle fighting the fire that followed the explosions on S.S. Fort Stikline in Victoria Docks, which saved Mumbai and its citizens.
