A ‘Sanchara Pasu Vaidya Seva Kendram’ (mobile veterinary clinic) was inaugurated by Collector Pravin Kumar here on Monday.

Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department N. Koteswara Rao said two mobile veterinary clinics, one each at Paderu and Anakapalle divisions, would be stationed, to cover three villages a day for six days a week.

These mobile clinics, to cater to the needs of the farming community round-the-clock, would act as a link between the livestock farmers and the Animal Husbandry Department. They would undertake prompt treatment of sick animals at the doorstep of farmers.

The State government has proposed to start 45 mobile clinics in the 13 districts of the State in the PPP mode. The share of the government for these units for five years works out to ₹ 33.75 crore, which includes honorarium and vehicle running cost of ₹ 27 crore in addition to drugs and equipment cost of ₹6.75 crore.

Each mobile clinic would have one veterinary doctor, a paravet and a driver-cum-attendant. The services to be offered include: minor surgical interventions, reproductive management, input supply services and lab investigations.
