Promising to take up the genuine grievances of ex-servicemen at all levels and getting them redressed, ex-serviceman and Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar urged the former members of the Armed Forces not to allow themselves to be cheated by land sharks.

Addressing a large gathering of former members of the Armed Forces, including a number of highly decorated officers and men, the MLA said that he was available to them at his office during the day and urged them to approach him with the same confidence as they would approach the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office. He promised to take up all the pending issues of ex servicemen at all levels, including police and district administration.

Land sharks have been conning the gullible ex-servicemen and cornering the land allocated to the former members of Armed Forces by the Government, the MLA said and urged them not to fall in the trap. He said in case of any legal issue he would seek the assistance of the legal cell of the Telugu Desam Party and ensure that the former members of the uniformed forces would not suffer.

It is unfortunate that the public have a wrong image of the capabilities of ex-servicemen and offer them re-employment only security. The servicemen honour their word and are capable of achieving great heights, he said.

Citizens join uniformed services with a hope that the nation would acknowledge their service and whatever is being given as a benefit to the widows or post retirement is an entitlement and not benevolence.

Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer Capt (retd) P. Satya Prasad, former Vice-Chancellor DS National Law University and former ex serviceman Y. Satyanarayana, and a large number of ex servicemen attended the celebration of the Armed Forces Flag Day.
