MLA gives Rs. 50,000 to each of injured

Payakraopeta MLA V. Anitha on Friday gave away Rs. 50,000 towards compensation to the four injured workers undergoing treatment in a corporate hospital.

The workers were injured in a blast at a fire cracker manufacturing unit in Gokulapadu village in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday.

While seven died in the blast, four who were critically burnt have been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Earlier, the government had given Rs. 2 lakh as compensation to the family of the deceased.

Cheques given

Handing over the cheques, the MLA said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had agreed to give an additional Rs. 1 lakh towards compensation to the family of the deceased.

“This apart, the government shall bear the cost of education of the children of the deceased and will provide employment to the family members,” she said.

The injured who are undergoing treatment are Yugesh (14), Ch. Lakshmi (35), K. Viswanath (31) and Apparao (35).
