A 16-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man. Though the incident had occurred a couple of days ago, it came to light on Monday, when the victim’s father lodged a complaint with the PM Palem police station.

According to the police, the accused I. Chinna, a native of Srikakulam district, who was working as a mason in a private construction company at Bakkanapalem under PM Palem police station, eloped with the girl, who was the daughter of the watchman at the construction site.

He took her to Srikakulam and had repeatedly raped her. The victim’s father had gone to Srikakulam and brought back the girl on Sunday and lodged a complaint on Monday. The police arrested the accused and booked him under Sections 376 and 363 of IPC, for both rape and kidnapping. The girl was sent to King Georg Hospital for medical examination and the case is under investigation.
