Minister launches website for urban housing

Applications will be received online for sanctioning houses to the eligible in a transparent manner in view of the large-scale construction of houses planned in the city, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said.

He launched the website, vizagcityhousingforall.com, for submitting applications online for housing in the city on Thursday.

The homeless may submit applications online from December 12 till the end of the month.

The Minister said that 20,030 houses would be constructed in the city with an estimated cost of Rs.961 crore and 12,500 houses under NTR Housing in rural areas at an estimated cost of Rs.348 crore. Repairs will be taken up with Rs.12.5 crore.

Under NTR Housing, Rs.2.75 lakh will be sanctioned to each house. Under NTR House Upgradation, repairs would be taken up to 12,000 houses by spending Rs.10,000 on each house.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that Andhra Pradesh was the biggest beneficiary in urban housing, and making good use of it, Visakhapatnam should be made a city without slums.

Taking housing on such a large scale was a challenging task and an action plan to complete them in a time-bound manner would be drawn, he added.

District Collector N. Yuvaraj made a detailed presentation on the NTR Housing in the district and the layouts.

MLAs Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, Panchakarla Rameshbabu and Peela Govinda Satyanarayana, ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar, and Project Director, Housing, G.S. Prasad, participated.
