A mentally deranged person allegedly brutally hacked his three-year-old daughter to death with a knife at his residence in Adithya Nagar under Pendurthi police station limits on Monday evening.
The accused was identified as V. Praveen Kumar and the victim was Chandrika.
According to the police, Praveen Kumar has been suffering from mental disorders for quite some time and was undergoing treatment. Even on Monday, he was taken to a hospital by his wife and family members.
After returning home, when his wife had gone for some work, he took a sharp knife and killed his three-year-old daughter. On information, the police rushed to the spot and took him into custody. The police also said that Praveen was in mental hospital for about 20 days, last year. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
