Draped in yellow and red headbands, the youth and the old walked from Madhavadhara Siva temple to Pandurangapuram Siva temple on Sunday as part of the Sravana Kavad Yatra.

Organised by the Marwari Yuva Manch, the annual event generated good response among the community members, who passed through Kancharapalem, RTC Complex and Siripuram before reaching Beach Road temple. Some 2,000 believers and enthusiasts participated in the walk.

Special puja was performed at the Siva temple before beginning the yatra in which Visakha North MLA T. Vijaya Kumar participated holding the flag for some time. Mayor P. Janardhana Rao complimented the Manch for making efforts to preserve the culture.

The walk, which began at 5.30 a.m. at Madhavadhara, was aimed at improving peace in society, said Manch president Sunil.
