Floral tributes were paid on the occasion of Navy Day at the Navy War Memorial ‘Victory at Sea’ on the beach road to all those who sacrificed their lives during Indo-Pak War in 1971.
Navy Day is observed every year on December 4 to commemorate India’s successful attack on Karachi Harbour paving the way for a victory for the country. On this occasion, all the personnel of the Eastern Naval Command rededicated themselves to the service of the nation and protect the vast maritime boundaries and the national assets off the Eastern Seaboard.
A wreath was placed by Vice-Admiral Anil Chopra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC at the War Memorial. Wreaths were also placed by President of Navy Foundation Vice-Admiral (retired) A.V.R. Narayan Rao, Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer Capt. (retd) Satya Prasad, District Collector V. Seshadri and Commissioner of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy. A 50-men guard of honour was presented on the occasion. Among those who visited the memorial included Director General of Naval Projects Vice-Admiral V.K. Namballa, Project Director, Ship Building Centre Rear Admiral K.O. Thakare, Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Ajit Kumar P, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard Rear Admiral G.S. Pabby and Flag Officer, Submarines Rear Admiral S.V. Bokhare.
WB Governor’s visit
West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan on Tuesday visited various ships and facilities of Eastern Naval Command.
Mr. Narayanan spent sometime at various establishments of the command and interacted with senior officials.
