Markfed promises supply of fertilizers

The AP State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited (AP Markfed), like last year, will ensure supply of fertilizers in time for farmers to avoid scarcity, its Chairman Kanchi Rama Rao said here on Wednesday.

He said Markfed officials were instructed to send stocks within 48 hours of receiving request from to a Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society Addressing a meeting of presidents and secretaries of PACS in the district at the District Cooperative Central Bank, he said in case a PACS faced any problem, the Markfed could be contacted.

Mr. Rama Rao urged PACS members to make use of the marketing facilities of Markfed to get good price for their produce and assured farmers of Visakhapatnam district of more facilities through Markfed in future.

President of DCCB U.V. Sukumar Varma said that nearly 70 PACS in the district had taken up sale of fertilizers and wanted the remaining PACS also to start fertilizers trade. The finance required to start the trade would be provided by Markfed and security for the same would be provided through bank guarantee.

Mr. Varma said pointed out that there was no scarcity of fertilizers during last year because the PACS had done an extensive business. He thanked the the Markfed for its timely help. He promised DCCB’s support to any business done by the PACS for the sake of farmers.

Vice-President of DCCB Sunkari Giribabu, CEO of the bank Annepu Papa Rao, and Markfed’s district official Krishna Rao participated.
