Maoists kill three Girijans

Heated arguments lead to murders

Three Girijans were killed, reportedly by Maoists, who opened fire on a group of villagers who attacked them with stones. This followed a clash during a meeting the Maoists had convened between two groups to resolve a dispute between them.

According to information reaching here, the Maoists called for a “panchayat” between the warring villagers belonging to the Bhagata and Kondu tribes of Saagulu village in G.K. Veedhi mandal on Tuesday. The meeting took place at Lakkavaram forest area in the afternoon. The armed militia members of the CPI (Maoist) conducted the meeting where a senior leader Jambri was reportedly present.

During the meeting, the Maoists beat up a man from Bhagata community which was strongly protested by his group.

After heated arguments between the villagers and the Maoists, the villagers rained stones on the Maoists who fired back, killing three villagers.
