Maoists kill suspected informer

September 13, 2014 12:57 pm | Updated 12:58 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Suspecting Muvvala Ramesh, a former CPI (Maoists) cadre, as an informer of police, Maoists killed him in the early hours of Saturday. The body of Ramesh, was found at Jangalathota in Y. Ramavaram mandal in East Godavari district bordering Visakhapatnam district.

Ramesh was a native of Yendakota village of Mampa panchayat in Koyyuru mandal but left to Y. Ramavaram when he was about 10 years old. He was a dalam commander between 2003 and 2004 and surrendered to the East Godavari police in 2005. But he was never an informer, OSD of Narsipatnam Vishal Gunni told The Hindu . The Viskhapatnam Police are clueless about the culprits.

Ramesh was reportedly picked up by a group of Maoists when he visited his in-laws at Vennelapalem in Y. Ramavaram.

It was an act of cowardice on the part of the Maoists to kill a Girijan and an attempt to strike fear among the community, Mr. Gunni said.
