While the Guinness World Record holder Ram Singh Chauhan uncoiled his 14-foot long moustache from his neck, the audience was held in rapt attention.
Children’s Day celebrations began two days ahead for Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan as Port Kalavani Auditorium was packed with students, parents and special invitees cheering Ram Singh Chauhan unveiling the longest moustache amidst Rajastani folklore to mark ‘Kids Day – 2013’ carnival here on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor of Andhra University G.S.N. Raju, who was one of the guests, said: “good education qualification alone is not sufficient. What is required for the present generation is the overall personality development. Education system should aim at the holistic development of the child and should focus to provide stress free environment. He requested the parents not to encourage their children use mobile phones as the exposure to its radiation poses greater health risks.
Noted storyteller Geeta Ramanujam highlighted the importance of storytelling and the positive impact it has on the kids.
Adding humour to the event, educationist Sridhar Balan, narrated a story on how a slice of bread always manages to fall on the buttered side. Director of the school Ch. Vasu Prakash unveiled the school newsletter ‘Young Smiles’ before felicitating Mr. Ram Singh Chauhan.
The other interesting feature of the event was the Art and Craft exhibition where students from LKG to Class V have let their creative streaks loose. It showcased many eye-pleasing home decors made of simple items such as coconut shells, newspapers, straws, jute ropes, CDs, cotton rolls and many more. The event ended with a series of cultural performances.
