‘Make STP fully functional’

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday made a surprise visit to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) next to Appu Ghar at MVP Colony.

Though the STP has an installed capacity of 25 MGD machinery to treat only 10 MGD is functional against the inflow of 20 MGD. Besides, the biological oxygen demand (BOD) level of treated sewerage is 120, above the permissible 100.

Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar told the minister that the corporation would get repaired the defunct machinery and would ensure that all the 20 MGD got treated in the next one month.
