Rain likely at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh: weatherman
A low pressure area formed on Tuesday morning in the West Central Bay and its neighbourhood covering Orissa coast, North West Bay and coastal Andhra Pradesh, according to a bulletin of the Cyclone Warning Centre.
Under its influence, rain or thunderstorms are like at many places in coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours, with isolated heavy rain at some places during the same period.
Even as Visakhapatnam recorded the highest rainfall of the season on Monday, the momentum slowed down on Tuesday with the city experiencing intermittent light showers from the early hours of the day.
Waltair received 1.8 mm rainfall while 1.2 mm rainfall was recorded at the Airport between 8.30 hrs and 17.30 hrs. However, the formation of the low pressure area lifted the hopes of the weatherman, who predicted more rainfall for the region during the next two to three days.
Rainfall figures recorded in centimetres at other places at 08.30 hrs were: Parvathipuram – 11, Bheemunipatnam, Vizianagaram – 10 each, Salur – 9. Polavaram – 8, Nuzvid, Palakonda, Rentachintala, Veeraghattam, Komarada, Darsi – 7 each, Repalle, Avanigadda, Koyyalagudem, Visakhapatnam, Vinjamur – 6 each, Macherla, Cheepurupalle, Bobbili, Tiruvuru, Pathapatnam, Terlam – 5 each.
