Passing away of Carnatic Classical music maestro Nedunuri Krishna Murthy, is an irreparable loss to the world of Carnatic Music and to the cultural scene of Visakhapatnam, Panchayati Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu said here on Monday.
Paying tributes to the doyen of Carnatic music at his residence here, the Minister said that it was the good fortune of the people of Visakhapatnam that such a personality lived among them. The Minister noted the immense contribution made by Nedunuri in refining the skills of so many Carnatic musicians across the world.
The Minister along with Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao placed wreaths on behalf of the State Government and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. They also passed on the condolence message given by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to the family members.
Noting his association with the Carnatic music maestro, the Chief Secretary said the late eminent vocalist MS Subbalakshmi was trained by Nedunuri Krishna Murthy before she recorded Annamayya kirtanas for the Annamayya Project of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Nedunuri was among the few who completed their Shastipurti (six decades) in performance of Carnatic Music, he said.
Chairman of the Legislative Council A. Chakrapani, Vice Chairman Satish Kumar Reddy, Visakha West MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu, former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, former MLA Dronamraju Srinivas, District Collector N. Yuvaraj and Joint Collector Pravin Kumar, among others paid their respects to the departed soul.
