: Reacting to YSR Congress leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s charges of corruption against his father and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the form of a book, Telugu Desam’s all-India general secretary Lokesh has challenged him to participate in an open debate on the issue.
‘Negative approach’
“Our family has been declaring assets for the last seven years. Did he do that? Let’s have an open discussion. When Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy made the allegation in the past the Chief Minister demanded him to produce the proof in the Assembly but Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy went to Delhi,” Mr. Lokesh said while addressing party workers after laying the foundation for the party’s regional office building at the Rockdale layout here.
He urged the party leaders and workers to work hard to complement the efforts of Chief Minister in building the State which started with a deficit budget of Rs. 16,000 crore after bifurcation. “The Chief Minister is working hard and as active as a teenager and in spite of the severe financial crunch he has been able to keep the promises he made during the elections,” Mr. Lokesh said. He accused Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy of trying to put hurdles in the path of the State’s progress instead of cooperating with Mr. Naidu in his efforts.
He said the TDP would see to it that every assurance given in the State Reorganisation Act is achieved. He wondered why the YSRC took up the railway zone issue two months after the railway budget was presented. Mr. Naidu is always pursuing the issue with the Centre, he said.
The great efforts being made by the government and its several schemes must be taken to the people in an effective manner, he told the party workers, who he said were always the strength of the party. Mr. Lokesh recalled how his father went all out to bring quick relief after cyclone Hudhud hit the city. Even as a ceremony was going on at his home in Hyderabad a day before Hudhud struck, Mr. Naidu was instructing officials over phone to take all precautions, he recalled.
TDP will see to it that every promise made in the Reorganisation Act
