June 28, 2010 05:20 pm | Updated 05:20 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The old lighthouse on the beach near the VUDA Park will be given a facelift and made accessible to public.

As an immediate step, the path between VUDA Park and Park Hotel should be made a thoroughfare, VUDA Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar instructed officials. Accordingly, work has started.

While inspecting the work on Saturday, he wanted proposals to be prepared to develop the lighthouse premises and surroundings and make them tourist-friendly by providing amenities.

The lighthouse should be made a continuation to VUDA Park.

Chief Urban Planner K. Ananda Babu, DFO B.V.A. Krishna Murthy, Superintendent Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao and Planning officer K.D. Brainard were present.
