Members of Visakhapatnam Bar Association on Wednesday held an extra ordinary general body meeting in the district court complex and gave a call for a two-day boycott on June 29 and 30 to demand to increase in the limit of death benefit from ₹ 3 lakh to ₹10 lakh for kith and kin of deceased advocates.

VBA president Poosarla Balakrishna and secretary Jagdeeswara Rao read out the resolution calling for boycott in tune with decision taken by majority of bar associations in the State.

Former government pleader Ramesh asked the association to take steps for setting up of Central Government’s Industrial Tribunal.

Forum of Legal Professionals president Kuppili Muralidhar said the association should follow up on the demand for High Court bench in the city.

Responding to this, Mr. Balakrishna said a joint action committee of advocates was considering the matter to step up the campaign for expediting the decision.

Bar council members Krishna Mohan, B.V.R. Murthy addressed the gathering.
