The District Administration has sent details of about 6,000 acres of land in Visakhapatnam Revenue Division to the State Government.

The details were sought by the government as institutions such as IIT, IIM, petroleum university, etc., were being established under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in different parts the State, Joint Collector Pravin Kumar told reporters on Monday.

The extent of land was in 25 land parcels located in all mandals of Visakhapatnam Revenue Division except in Visakha urban and Parawada mandals. Such details were also sought from other places like Vijayawada and Tirupati which are being developed as major centres under the Act.

The details of parcels of land were sent according to a checklist sent by the government, which sought road, rail, air and national highway connectivity; alienation; water availability, distance from the district headquarters and mandal headquarters, details of major institutions and organisations located near the land, etc. Each parcel has 100 acres to 500 acres of land in it.

The State Government would send land details to Central Government after making a study and teams from Centre would come for survey, Mr. Pravin Kumar said.

Collector S. Solomon Arokia Raj and himself have studied details of every parcel of land before sending them to the State Government, he said. Hill areas were not included. A master plan of all land available in the district is also being prepared.
