Life and works of renowned film director K. Viswanath came in for praise on Sunday evening in Visakhapatnam.

The occasion was the presentation of Kopparapu Kavula Kala Peetham Pursakar to him as part of its 11 anniversary celebrations.

Minister for Ports Ganta Srinivasarao along with Sadguru Sivananda Murthy of Bhimili presented him the puraskar and warmly felicitated him.

Mr. Viswanath films form a green pasture in the otherwise arid landscape of Telugu filmdom. He belongs to the distinct tribe that infused creativity and aesthetic charms in the films.

Rooted in our culture and tradition, his films remain as legacy to posterity - was the crux of the speeches on the occasion.

Responding to felicitation, Mr. Viswanath profusely thanked the organisers and commended their laudable efforts in popularising the works of legendary poet duo Kopparapu Kavulu.

Noted litterateur Peri Ravikumar who presided over, elucidated varied aspects of Kopparapu Kavulu’s literary acumen.

‘Kopparapu Kavula Prathibha prabha’, a compilation of literary essays on the works of Kopparapu Kavulu, was released on the occasion, and renowned ‘Sahasravadhani’ Garikapati Narasimha Rao reviewed the book.

Impressive record

Founder of the Peetham Maa Sarma underscored the aims and objectives of the peetham and its impressive record over a decade in promotion of the cause of classical literature in the city.
