KK line to be restored on Dec. 11

The railway bridge between Borraguhalu and Chimidapalli Railwy Stations, on the Kotttavalasa-Kirandul line, which was badly damaged due to boulder fall on Oct 6, this year, has been restored.

A trial run was conducted on Dec 8 and formal traffic will be resumed with effect from the midnight of Dec 11, according to an official release issued by the East Coast Railway (E Co R) on Friday.

A 34-tonne rock breaker and capacity excavators of 300-tonne, 200-tonne and 75-tonne were used in the restoration work. The bridge was repaired at a cost of ₹ 7 crore by using 400 workers and completed in 58 days, which is record of any bridge work done.

Meanwhile, train no. 22415 Visakhapatnam-New Delhi AP AC Express has been cancelled on Dec 11 and 12 and 22416 New Delhi Visakhapatnam AP AC Express cancelled on Dec 9 and 10, to facilitate safety-related modernisation works(NI works) at Delhi Division.
