Safai workers of King George Hospital and others Government hospitals in the city staged a demonstration in front of the administrative building of KGH on Thursday demanding implementation of GOs which provided hike in their wages.
Nearly 300 contract workers were under an outsourcing agency and paid a monthly wage of Rs. 4,030. Though the Government issued GOs hiking their wages, the contract workers had been getting only old wages for the last 10 months. The AITUC-affiliated Visakhapatnam Contract Labour Union organised the protest .
The workers wanted immediate implementation of increased wages. KGH Superintendent M. Madhusudhana Babu met the workers and assured them that their demand would be considered. General secretary J.D. Naidu, and president B. Taviti Raju participated.
