Kidnap attempt at KGH foiled

An attempt to kidnap a baby boy was foiled by an alert attendant and some Community Guards at the King George Hospital here late on Wednesday night.

It was around 12.10 a.m. when Rushi, the 18-month-old child from Rayagada in Odisha, was sleeping beside his parents R. Sekhar and Anusha at the Children Ward of the hospital.

Rushi, who was suffering from infection, was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

An unidentified person, aged around 25 years, tried to kidnap Rushi.

The intruder’s attempt was foiled by an attendant of a patient and Community Guards posted at the KGH.

One Town Inspector Syed Mohammed Eliyas said that Poli Naidu, an attendant of another patient, and the Community Guards saved the boy.

He said that Poli Naidu suffered injuries in the scuffle with the miscreant.

The police are investigating the case based on the CCTV footage at the ward.
