Kennels for stray dogs soon

April 28, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is taking all steps for a sustainable solution to the problems posed by stray dogs, said Commissioner Pravin Kumar.

Sterilisation was the only acceptable solution for bringing down their number, he noted.

The Civic Administration would be handing over the process of sterilisation to an agency that would complete it in three months. Tenders for identifying the agency would be opened on Thursday, he said. On Wednesday, he inspected the kennels established for taking care of stray dogs and also the facilities created for sterilisation. He checked the progress of works at the different kennels.

He inspected the kennels and those under construction in Malkapuram, Gandhigram, Kota Narava and Pendurthy. The officials told him that these facilities would be completed in next one week to a fortnight. The Commissioner was accompanied by AMOH S Jayaram, Simhadrappadu, EE Ramamohan, Shivaprasad, Ramakrishna, AE Rammurthy and others.
