Prasunna, a middle-aged woman, had been suffering from cervical spondylosis since last 10 years. She tried many therapies including diet, physiotherapy and yoga. But according to her, none had given the desired result, until she tried the body balancing therapy. “It is simple, all you have to do is to change some of your sleeping and sitting postures and practice a few ‘asanas’ for a few minutes on a daily basis,” she said.

Balancing the body mass while sleeping, sitting and standing can work wonders on the body and can cure many ailments, said Body Balancing Therapist from Ahmedabad, Dharmendra S. Kanojia.

He is here to conduct a camp, and the therapist says that the concept is age-old and was forgotten and lost for a long time. “It was re-discovered by my father Ramji Bhai Kanojia in 1992 and the first camp was organised in 1995. And since then we never looked back,” he said.

According to Mr. Dharmendra, spinal cord is the root cause for many diseases. “The blood circulation is moderated by the position of the spinal cord. And the balancing of the body mass has a direct relation with the spinal cord. Minor changes in sleeping, standing or sitting postures, can give relief to a great extent,” he said.

Mr. Dharmendra compares the therapy to wheel alignment of a car. “If the wheel balancing is not proper, the tyres get worn out on one side. The same notion goes with this therapy and the human body,” he said.

According to Nageswara Rao, the coordinator of the camp, all one has to do is to attend a camp for three days and practice the ‘asanas’ and prescribed postures at home.

“There are about 125 sleeping postures and only three are said to be the right postures. Our postures affect the internal organs and through our therapy we try to cut down the wrongdoings. The intent is to address the cause rather than the disease. And we cover almost all ailments from orthopaedic to gynaecology disorders and from chronic problems like indigestion to asthma and arthritis,” said Mr. Dharmendra.

The camp is being held in association with Lions Club Visakhapatnam at Ramnagar and the next one will be begin from September 12 to 14.
