Jute mill management told to deposit 3.81 cr.

The Jute Mill Congress Karmika Sangham has sought the implementation of the order issued by the Authority under Payment of Wages Act, 1936 and Joint Labour Commissioner, for payment of lockout period wages to the workers of Chitivalasa Jute Mills.

The case was filed by the sangham and the Chittivalasa Jute Mills Workers' Union.

The sangham led by its president S. Gangadhara Reddy and general secretary Chilla Dharma Reddy after obtaining signatures of 854 workers filed the claim under the Payment of Wages Act seeking wages to the tune of Rs.3.81 crore for the ‘illegal' lockout period.

The Authority under Payment of Wages Act and Joint Labour Commissioner, Visakhapatnam allowed the application and granted Rs.3.81 crore as claimed by the applicant workmen and directed the management to deposit the amount with in 30 days.
