Joy trip ends in tragedy for three

They drown in Pedderu reservoir

A joy trip ended in a tragedy for three when they drowned in a reservoir located between Kothapalle and Ravipalem in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday. The incident occurred when they went to the left canal of Pedderu reservoir along with seven others for picnic and drowned in it.

All the youngsters were employees of World Network Service (WNS), a business process management (BPM) firm in Visakhapatnam. According to the people in the area, a group of ten friends reached the spot on motorbikes and had a lunch. Three of them ventured into the waters and drowned while taking bath in the reservoir canal.

The deceased were identified as A. Dileep Kumar (26), a resident of Pedagantyada area in Vizag, M. Nani (28) of Sunkarametta area under Araku Valley mandal and M. Datta (26) of Pune.

The police registered a case. The bodies were sent for autopsy.

In another incident in the city, a second-year BSc student of a private college, B.R. Srikar (19) was feared drowned at sea near RK Beach while swimming along with his friends. The police launched a search operation to trace him.
